i-Ready Online Instruction
During the school year, our school uses ODE-approved i-Ready Reading and Math Diagnostics to identify each student's areas of need in Reading and Math. i-Ready Math is also used as part of our school's math curriculum. I am happy to announce that our Gr. K-5 students can access i-Ready's individualized lessons in reading and math from home until the evening of August 13, 2021. Please take advantage of the online tools to help prevent "summer slide" (summer learning loss).
If you need your child's log-in information for i-Ready Math, feel free to email me from my home page or click on my email address below:

Letter Formations and Games
Note from Mrs. Clark: Proper directionality in writing is imperative and research indicates a correlation between writing and reading. The interactive writing activities below will be very helpful for young students who may be establishing or have already established a habit of not using proper directionality (top to bottom, left to right), which can have negative effect on their reading--especially in tracking letters and words in proper sequence, and avoiding skipping lines while reading.
Because the majority of the capital and lowercase alphabet letters have straight lines (Aa, Bb, Dd, E, Ff, Hh, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Pp, Rr, Tt, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz), it is important--especially for kindergarten and first grade students--to use proper directionality (form vertical lines from the top to bottom, and form horizontal lines from the left to the right) to develop good penmanship skills. Click on the purple words → "Tripod Method" to see a quick youtube video about a commonly recommended grip.

Play the StoryMaker game on pbs.org by choosing your own
setting, characters, and actions The wordless story book can help students develop the concept of beginning, middle and end of a story, explain the main idea of a story, give details about the story (e.g. identify a character's mood(s) and explain the character must be feeling that way), and develop creative expressions.
